Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how BarQR: Barcode & QR Scanner (“BarQR” or “the app”) handles information when you use it.

At a glance

Camera and scanned codes

BarQR uses your device’s camera to recognize QR codes and barcodes. Camera access is requested for scanning. The app processes the camera image to identify a code; it does not intentionally upload camera images or scanned code contents to a server operated by the developer.

After a successful scan, BarQR stores the code’s contents, format and scan time in the app’s local scan history. The history holds up to 50 recent scans. Scanned contents may include personal information if that information is contained in a code you scan.

You can clear the scan history in the app. You can also remove the app’s locally stored data through Android’s app settings or by uninstalling the app. BarQR does not provide an account or its own cloud-sync service. Depending on your Android device and backup settings, Android’s backup or device-transfer features may copy app data, including scan history, to your backup account or another device. Clearing history in the app may not remove an earlier system backup; backup retention is controlled by your device or backup provider.

Ads and data processed by Google

BarQR displays ads using the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob). Google may automatically collect or share information such as your IP address, app interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers—including the Android advertising ID when available—for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. An IP address may be used to estimate a general location. This information is handled by Google under its own policies, not as part of BarQR’s scan history.

For details, see Google’s Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure and Google’s Privacy Policy. You can manage or delete your Android advertising ID in your device settings, where available.

Actions you choose

When you choose to open a scanned link, search for a code or share a result, BarQR passes the relevant code content to the browser, search app or sharing app that handles your request. If you copy a result, it is placed on your device’s clipboard. Those services and apps may handle the information under their own privacy policies. BarQR does not automatically send scanned code contents to them merely because you scan a code.

Retention and security

Scan history remains in the app’s local storage until you clear it, remove the app’s data, uninstall the app, or it is displaced by newer scans after the 50-entry limit. Android backup copies, if any, are subject to your backup provider’s settings and retention practices. Google controls retention of information collected through its advertising services under its own policies.

We use the protections provided by Android for app storage. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You can deny or revoke camera access in Android settings, although scanning will not work without it. You can clear local history in the app, clear all app data through Android settings, uninstall BarQR, and manage the Android advertising ID and available ad-personalization controls on your device.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal data processed by the developer, including access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection. To make a privacy request, use the contact address below. Information processed independently by Google is subject to Google’s privacy controls and request procedures.

Children’s privacy

BarQR is not designed to ask children for personal information, and the developer does not knowingly collect scanned code contents. Advertising services may process the technical information described above under their own policies and applicable consent requirements. If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to the developer, please contact us so the matter can be reviewed.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the app, its data practices, third-party services or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be updated when we do.
